Cornwall holiday

Hello everyone,

I am looking to update and start to think about the cycle trip to Cornwall from Saturday the 3rd till 8th July 2018. (5 nights)

  1. Could anyone who is thinking of going let me know by email j.wills53@ntlworld.com, I need to have firm numbers by the 8th April to decide if we have sufficient numbers to go ahead.
  2. Please let me have an email address and contact number.

To date, I understand that Sue and Paul Herber and Anne and Derek Tanner are coming. Please confirm as a number of people have dropped out for very legitimate and personal reasons! I would like to think that a viable number would be 8-10 for it to go ahead.

Accommodation can be at the County Arms, Truro (countyarmstruro.co.uk). Having looked at several hotels this one seems to be the best suited to our needs.  They have ample bicycle storage and parking for cars. You can of course organise your own accommodation.

All rooms are standard en suite with a double or twin beds. The price covers Bed and breakfast although this can be optional.  They have a varied menu for evening meals if you choose to eat in but there are other options locally.

If you have any questions please contact me on my email address below or ask when I next see you.

Best Regards

John Wills

Prudential Ride London – places!

Thinking forward to glorious summer cycling days, perhaps you’ve just decided you want a challenge.

Joe Ward writes….

We have places available in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 at a discounted rate for team entries – the bigger the team the bigger the discount.

We would very much appreciate your support:  http://www.victa.org.uk/ridelondon-team-entries/

I write on behalf of VICTA, a national charity in the UK that works to empower children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted. We work hard to help our youngsters question limiting presumptions they might have, helping them to view themselves and their potential in a new way. We want them to be able to make a difference to their own lives.

Help us to help more blind children.

Kind regards

More archives uploaded, including the ‘snowy’ Icycle

I have uploaded more photos (from 2006) and more old runs lists (from 1983, 1988 and 1993).  You can find the details here:

http://www.jeggo.org.uk/wsctchistarch/updates.html#latest

No-one claimed the free pint offered in my recent post.  Statement (1) was true, but 2006 was not one of those years.  The snow in the photo (2) was artificial – see the explanation on the 2006 photos webpage.

Also on that webpage you will see that I have been unable to name all the entrants in the Surrey Hills Saunter.  Please help out if you can.

Further, if you have any photos you think are worth archiving, please get in touch with me.

Not the club ride

With the hour change and a beautiful sunny morning I was more interested in putting my feet up and watching the world not go by – as very little passes our house except the weather.  However after some nagging I was persuaded to get out on my bike.  I decided to take the camera and idle my way around to Bishop’s Castle and back by the scenic route along the Vale of Montgomery.  Somewhere along the way – well Churchstoke to be honest I – forgot to take the right turn – but so what, the road was smooth, what passes for flat around here and pretty much traffic free.  And the views? Worth getting out of bed for, though the climb out of Bishop’s Castle was a bit longer than I expected.  All the more reason to stop have a snack and take a few pictures.
